Why Information Can Feel Slow at First

In the earliest stages of a wildfire — called initial attack — crews are focused on fast-moving response.

 That means:

  • Public updates may take time
  • Details may be limited early on
  • Information becomes clearer as firefighters assess conditions

The most important thing you can do is stay ready and make sure you’re signed up for alerts through Everbridge, follow guidance from local law enforcement agencies and fire personnel- their role is to protect and serve the community.

Many residents also use Watch Duty, a free app that provides wildfire notifications and map updates.

 You can:

  • Track fires near you
  • Receive push notifications
  • Follow verified fire reporting sources

Incident-Specific Wildfire Facebook Pages

When a large fire occurs, dedicated pages may be created for that specific incident.

These are often the best source for:

  • Daily fire briefings
  • Containment progress
  • Evacuation level changes
  • Community meeting announcements

We’ll link official incident pages here as they become available.

Local Fire Departments May Share Updates

In the initial response to wildfires local fire districts may provide briefings on the fire or as the Incident Management Teams are fully established and ready to transition to managing the event (wildfire).

However, to keep things simple and consistent, we recommend using the sources above first — they are the most reliable and easiest to follow.
