Firewise USA® is a national program administered by the National Fire Protection Association.

Firewise Communities organize at the neighborhood level to:

  • Assess shared wildfire risk
  • Create a simple action plan for your community
  • Track annual mitigation work
  • Strengthen communication between neighbors

Benefits of becoming a Firewise Community:

  • Become eligible to apply for microgrants, available through Washington DNR, to fund projects like reducing fuels in community spaces, pine needle disposal, or neighborhood chipping
  • Connect with and learn from other communities in our region who are taking steps to reduce their risk

Firewise isn’t about bureaucracy.
It’s about neighbors choosing to protect each other.

When an entire neighborhood participates, survivability increases dramatically.

Start a conversation with your neighbors.
