Firewise USA® is a national program administered by the National Fire Protection Association.
Firewise Communities organize at the neighborhood level to:
- Assess shared wildfire risk
- Create a simple action plan for your community
- Track annual mitigation work
- Strengthen communication between neighbors
Benefits of becoming a Firewise Community:
- Become eligible to apply for microgrants, available through Washington DNR, to fund projects like reducing fuels in community spaces, pine needle disposal, or neighborhood chipping
- Connect with and learn from other communities in our region who are taking steps to reduce their risk

Firewise isn’t about bureaucracy.
It’s about neighbors choosing to protect each other.
